Descripción

In the last year, as a consequence of the pandemic, we have witnessed how decisions in the health field have marked the political, economic and social agenda of the country. These decisions were made based on data on accumulated incidences, hospital bed occupancy or vaccination rates. In this way, the importance of data related to the health sector has become evident, not only for government decision-making, but also to provide solutions that help patients and doctors in their daily lives.

There are many types of data used in the field of health and well-being, such as: results of studies or research, anonymised patient records, citizens' habits, among others. All these data are of great value to health professionals and providers as well as to the general public.

Aware of this, under the slogan "The value of data for the health and well-being of citizens", Red.es and the Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence are organising a competition that aims to encourage the talent, technical competence and creativity of participants while promoting the direct reuse of data published by various public bodies. The competition, as in previous years, consists of two phases, read on to find out what they are!

Phase I: Ideas Competition. From 22 November 2021 to 15 February 2022.

In this phase, participants must submit an idea that responds to the proposed challenge: to identify new opportunities to capture, analyse and use data intelligence to drive improvements in health and wellbeing.

Proposals must be based on the use of at least one open data set from public administrations, whether national or international. These data may be combined with other data of a public or private nature. The idea submitted must be new and original, and must not have been previously awarded a prize.

A jury of experts in the field will evaluate the ideas and choose 10, which will go forward to phase II. The criteria to be taken into account for the evaluation are:

  • Relevance.
  • Overall quality and clarity of the proposed idea.
  • Impact of the proposed idea on improving the health and well-being of citizens.
  • Data sources used.
  • Promotion of access to health and well-being services for vulnerable groups.

Phase II: Development of prototypes and on-site exhibition. April-June

In the next phase, the participants whose ideas have been selected will develop the associated prototype and present it to the members of the Jury. They will have at least 2 months to do so.

Prototypes shall be a functional solution, dynamic graphical element, multimedia solution, simulating the associated proposed service. In this case, the evaluation criteria will be:

  • Ease of use.
  • Technical quality of the prototype.
  • Feasibility.
  • Quality of the exhibition.

The three proposals with the highest scores will be the winners. The first prize will be €5.000, the second prize will be €4.000 and the third prize will be €3.000.
